A quick update...

Day 8 working on the site and we're well ahead of target...

We've poured the concrete ring beam, we hadn't banked on doing this until tomorrow... We have one day to go and out of the kindness of my heart I reckon it will be a half day... We will finish off two brick partition walls in the toilets and that will be it from our end of the house. The work will however continue after we leave. There is some more brickwork to be done over the beam ant the roof will need to be poured as well as plumbing and electricity... This will be finished in the next month or so (everything is so much slower in India), the fact that payment awaits the contractor might hurry them along though!!!

We are expecting a party in the village tomorrow with a campfire to give the locals a chance to thank all the Venture Scouts for the work they have done for them.

Everyone is looking forward to downing tools and having a more of a relaxing time. And I can confirm that it has been well earned...

Talk soon..

Noel

well done to all of you and a big thanks to the hope foundation and the leaders for giving the ventures a chance to go and make a difference.
we are very proud of amy and all the other ventures for the way they have got stuck in from the sound of it no ones complained or had a bad word to say about it not many kids of their age would go and do what they have done well done to all of you.
im sure all parents and gaurdians back here will agree with me that its a life changing experience and when they come back they will hopefully have a better understanding of the world outside ireland and hope that at some stage in a few years the return trip will be announced to check on the new friends im sure they have all made

  12. Great to see that things are working out and that the concrete ring has been poured. New skills gained on this trip hopefully you'll all return safe and sound and that this message does not wake you up at 3 o'clock in the morning as Joe Bergin's mothers phone call did. Hope to meet up with you all when you get home.
